FRSC arrests fake lieutenant, 20 others for traffic offences in Abuja

The operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Central Business District Unit in Abuja, have arrested a driver, Saviour Akpan, who posed as Lieutenant A. D. Dama.

The operatives were part of the enforcement team dispatched in Abuja under Operation Compliance Dole to ensure drivers do not carry overload.

The unit’s head, Assistant Corps Commander Imran Ibrahim, said the suspect was arrested in the Kugbo area of Abuja where he presented himself as an army officer.

He explained that, “My men who suspected him of foul play brought him to the office where he was further quizzed. Before his arrival, we had contacted the army command which sent two military policemen to arrest him.”

He further said that, “We have arrested 20 other offenders and the number is growing by the day. We will be on the roads until we are satisfied with compliance. This is a federal capital; we are determined to set a standard.”
