A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Richardson Ojeka, serving in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), yesterday, donated 20 laptops to students of the Junior Secondary School, Alugu-Lungu, Gwarinpa II, Abuja.
Daily Trust reports that the donation was part of his Community Development Service (CDS) toward reducing technological illiteracy.
A project tagged ‘Students’ Innovation Hub’ was also launched to help equip the students with computer skills.
Ojeka, who is the founder of the Africado Foundation, said, “It’s obvious that the world is navigating very fast towards information technology, and we must match the world’s strength and be acquainted with ICT and computer-based information, hence the need for the project.”

The National Project Officer, International Labour Organisation (ILO), Segun Tekun, said, “We want to make sure that we deliver the right skill for the right people so that we, as Nigerians and people of Africa at large, can be able to benefit from this transfusion to digital development.”
A NYSC local government inspector in Kubwa, Mrs Ola-Olaronke Omobolanle, said CDS is part of the duties expected of corps members in their areas of assignment.
While commending Ojeka for his selfless service, she charged other corps members to emulate him.
The principal and management of the school expressed appreciation to the corps member, for his contributions to the school and the community, ranging from the Alugu-Lungu women empowerment seminar, national debate championship and scholarship offers to some students of the school
They urged that such initiative be sustained.
