Lagos police warn politicians, thugs to stay away from polling booths

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, on Thursday, warned all political parties in the state to eschew violence during and after the elections.

He gave the warning at a meeting with political parties and stakeholders on election security in Lagos.

Alabi warned political thugs, cultists and other troublemakers against disrupting the electoral process.

“Parents should equally warn their children to be law-abiding because we won’t listen to anybody when we arrest any troublemaker.

“We want to assure you that no cultists or political thugs would be allowed in the state. We are going to ensure that no political party’s supporters would be intimidated in the state,” he added.

The CP advised aspirants who may wish to have police details to apply to the command and state the reason for such a request.

The Lagos State Residents Electoral Commission, Mr Olusegun Agbaje, who was represented by the Administrative Secretary, Mr Adebisi Oladapo, said INEC was ready for the election.

He however pleaded with party members, aspirants and their followers to play by the rules of the election.
