An overloaded truck conveying cows and human passengers on Sunday plunged into a river, killing 15 persons.
Eye witnesses said the incident happened at night when the truck lost control on Ngurore bridge and plunged into the dried river where 35 people died and many sustained injuries.
Residents said 32 corpses and atleast 30 injured persons were taken to hospitals in Yola.
However, the Adamawa Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adegoke Adetunji confirmed the death of 15 persons, adding that many sustained injuries.
According to him, the accident occurred at about 10 p.m. on the Ngurore Bridge on Yola-Numan Road, saying the dead and the injured had been evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, and Specialists Hospital, Yola.
“On arrival at the scene, we discovered that it was a truck carrying cows and passengers that lost control and fell into the drying river,” the commander said.
