Police raid hotel, nab 10 robbery suspects, recover guns

The FCT police have arrested 10 robbery suspects and recovered guns, including two stolen vehicles, after raiding a hotel in the Sambisa Masaka area of Nasarawa State.

The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Sadiq I. Abubakar, made this known while parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Abuja at the weekend.

He said the suspects were arrested by operatives of the FCT command attached to the state criminal investigation department after a raid on the hotel following intelligence information.

He gave the names of the suspects as Ibrahim Umar, Nurudeen Yunusa, Mohammed Ahmed, Yunusa Ibrahim, Ahmadu Ahmed, Zakari Mohammed, Salihu Suleiman, Isah Labaran Muhammed Muhammed and Salihu Suleiman.

He listed exhibits recovered from the suspects during the raid to include five AK-47 rifles, four G-3 rifles, 122 live ammunitions of 7.62MM, one locally made pistol without ammunition, three ballistic vests, six empty AK-47 magazines, charms, ID cards, and two Golf and Toyota Camry cars, among others.

The police commissioner further disclosed that four other suspects were also arrested over armed robbery at various POS points at Maitama, Garki, Wuse, and Central Area of the FCT.

He gave the names of the suspects as Isah Wada, Sunday Jacob, John Monday Audu, and Peter Adaji, saying the suspects had been hunting POS operators and dispossessing them of money.
