The Muslim ummah in Jos, under the umbrella of the Plateau Peace and Unity Forum, has honoured the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Idris Wase; a former Nigerian Ambassador to Switzerland, Yahaya Kwande; and other sons and daughters for promoting peace in Plateau State.
Other recipients of the excellence awards include Hon Muhammad Adam, Member representing Jos North/Bassa; Hon Yusuf Gagdi, Member representing Kanam/Kanke/Pankshin; Hon Shehu Bala, Jos North LGA chairman; Hon Dayyabu Garga, Chairman of Kanam LGA; the first Chairman of Jos North LGA, Hon. Sama’ila Muhammad; a former Minister of State for Information and Communication, Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande; and the General Editor of Daily Trust, Hamza Idris.
The convener of the occasion and former House of Representatives member, Hon Baba Akawu, while delivering his speech, said, “This is a very special prayer activity coming at a very critical time of our nation’s history. It is organised to recognize, honour and celebrate some very distinguished members of our ummah that are giving their best to Allah and humanity.
“We gathered here today to pray for our dear state, country, victims of Boko Haram, banditry, flood and Plateau ethno-religious crises and for a successful and peaceful conduct of the 2023 elections.”
