The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State has dismissed the petition of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in the state, Engr. Segun Oni, challenging the election of Governor Biodun Abayomi who won under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The three-man election petition tribunal on Thursday said Oni, and his party failed woefully in all the grounds of their petition to proof their case.

The judgment was delivered by Justice Wilfred Kpochi, the chairman of the tribunal; assisted by Justice Sa’ad Zadawa, for over three hours.
Oyebanji had won the June 2022 election having secured 187,057 votes to defeat his two closest challengers — Oni, who polled 82,211 votes, and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 67,457 votes.
Oyebanji won in 15 out of the 16 LGAs in the state.
