ISWAP plans to attack on Christmas eve in Borno

People suspected to be fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) are planning to launch deadly attacks on some communities during the Christmas period in the Southern part of Borno State, Daily Trust learnt.

It was gathered that ISWAP was targeting two local government areas principally in the fringe of Sambisa forests.

An impeccable source told our correspondent yesterday that ISWAP planned to carry out a massive abduction of young girls on the eve of Christmas.

The source added that they also planned coordinated attacks on the military bases in a bid to divert the attention of the troops.

“The information shows that ISWAP has perfected a plan and mobilised fighters to attack communities during the festive periods in two LGAs in the Southern part with high calibres of weapons, especially Anti-aircraft guns and Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG),” the source revealed.

Meanwhile, Daily Trust learnt that the troops had been advised to maintain vigilance to obstruct the attacks on both civilians and their bases, especially in the fringe of Sambisa forests.
