Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested five gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in Edo State.
The suspects – Christopher Aiyegbeni, 29; Matthew Osayande, 32; Uyi Destiny, 27; Bankole Faz, 35; and Ayemen Okojie, 32, were arrested on December 16 by operatives of the police station in Ekiadolor.
The command’s PPRO, Chidi Nwanbuzor, a Superintendent of Police, said the suspects were arrested following an intelligence report that gunmen suspected to be kidnappers invaded Ogoja Camp, also known as Ford Camp in Kamafua-ii community, to kidnap one of the heads of the camp.
He said the suspects on reaching the camp started shooting sporadically but were arrested in collaboration with the vigilantes from Kamafua-ii community in Uhunmwode Local Government Area, of Edo State.

Nwanbuzor said one double-barrel gun, one single-barrel gun, and two pump action guns with cartridges were recovered from them.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed A. Dankwara, while commending the operatives, the community, and the vigilante in arresting the kidnappers, assured of a quick response to distress calls.
He, however, charged the people to give useful information to the police in the campaign against criminals and their activities in the state.
