Why I use Portable as example when advising my artistes — Don Jazzy

Legendary Nigerian beatmaker has revealed that he often cites singer, Portable, as an example whenever he advises his artistes.

The Mavin boss during a podcast with Joey Akan discussed how the Zazu Zeh singer has been able to use social media to remain in the news. The music producer stated that he often tells his artistes to ensure they do not relax on the successes achieved but ensure they keep working hard and remain relevant.

He said, “I was looking at some stars on social media when somebody like Zazu came out. There is Buju who is an amazing and fantastic musician but then; I am not saying followers on social media meanings that much but the time that Zazu came out, he got to a million followers on Instagram, faster than Buju that had about seven number one songs in the year.

“He is talented but just because Zazu was entertaining us, he was giving us something, the algorithm favoured him. Everyone just wanted to see what he will do next. That is someone that with the help of Olamide got to the limelight and since then it seems he has said, ‘see I am not going anywhere. I am going to be here whether you like it or not’. I use him as an example for my artiste. I tell them that if they relax, the algorithm would leave you and go to where is popping.”
