Army drills borehole in Abuja community

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya, has charged parents in the communities within the FCT to make their children’s education a priority, saying it will help to stem the tide of insecurity in the country, particularly the nation’s capital.

Yahaya stated this in Abuja when he commissioned a solar-powered borehole donated by the Nigerian Army (NA) troops of the 176 Guards Brigade in Rije, Kuje Area Council.

The COAS, represented by the Director, Psychological Operations in the Department of Civil/Military Affairs, Brig Gen Ojogbane Adegbe, also joined the troops in carrying out free medical and educational outreaches in Danfara village and Government Secondary School (GSS), Kuje.

Ojogbane explained that the project which was part of the non-kinetic face of the ongoing Exercise Enduring Peace for the year 2022 was aimed at impacting the lives of their host communities where the operations had been conducted positively.

He said, “These projects would no doubt address the acute shortage of water being faced by the affected communities while also improving their well-being.

“The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya, remains committed to partnering with the host communities to enhance positive civil-military relationship across the country.”

He urged members of the communities to cultivate a good maintenance culture in order to manage and protect the projects so that it would serve them and at the same time stand the test of time.
