“INGOs are supporting around 20 million people in the BAY states alone to save lives, improve living conditions, enhance social cohesion, and strengthen the resilience of communities to move beyond the need for humanitarian assistance once conditions are met. This work is implemented in close coordination with the Federal and State governments.”

Director of Nigeria INGO Forum, Camilla Corradin, said, “from the moment they set foot in Nigeria to assess needs, to the actual delivery of aid (may this be a shelter for the person displaced by flooding, a vocational training for women in IDP camps, a social cohesion events in communities that have faced conflict, or the development of draft policies in support of state governments).

“INGOs strive to adhere to host government laws and regulations. They also strictly follow the policies of donor agencies to ensure that assistance and tax-payers money reaches people in need and does not end up in the wrong hands.

“Today’s event provides an opportunity for the INGO community to express its continued commitment to working around the clock to provide life-saving and sustainable assistance to those in dire need of aid in North-East Nigeria and beyond, despite the prevailing insecurity and challenges. “
