The Public Health Department of the Health and Human Services Secretariat, through the FCT AIDS, Viral Hepatitis and STIs Control Programme (FASCP), joined the rest of the world to commemorate the 2022 World AIDS Day with the theme: “Equalise” and the slogan “Call to Action”.
Speaking during the occasion, the Health Secretary, Dr Abubakar Tafida, said the FCTA had rolled out key activities towards sensitisation and awareness creation to the FCT populace which were intended to showcase the modest achievements of the control programme.

He said HIV/AIDS prevalence among persons aged 15 to 64 was 1.4 per cent, while among adult females (women of child bearing age) was 2.1 per cent in the FCT, noting that this was as reported by the Nigeria HIV/AIDS Indicator and Impact Survey (NAIIS) 2018.
