The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has disbursed N100,000 agricultural loan each to 42 graduates in Borno State.
The Director General of NDE, Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, represented by the state’s Coordinator, Mohammed Muktar, said the loan was to tackle unemployment and boost and sustain agricultural development in the country.
Muktar, who flagged off the disbursement on Monday in Maiduguri, noted that the target of the programme was not only to create more jobs but equip the beneficiaries with the needed skills in modern agriculture for national growth.
He said, “They are graduates trained in various fields of the Sustainable Agricultural Scheme (SAS). They are now equipped with the skills and the revolving fund will help them to be self-reliant.”

Yusuf Abdullahi, programme facilitator from NDE headquarters, Abuja, warned the beneficiaries that the money was given to them as loan that must be paid in installments.
He said, “So, take advantage of the opportunity to transform your lives and ensure timely payment for next candidates to benefit the same you do.”
He noted that the directorate had a monitoring mechanism to ensure that people used the fund for the purpose it was intended.
A beneficiary, Saleh Adam, thanked NDE for the loan and promised to pay back on time.
