Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested two kidnappers and rescued three victims in separate incidences in Benue and Taraba states.
Spokesman of OPWS, Flight Lieutenant Audu Hussaini Katty, on Sunday, told newsmen that, “Acting on a credible human intelligence on the activities of kidnappers, on December 2, 2022, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke deployed at Zaki-Biam moved to a kidnap scene and arrested two notorious kidnappers, Messrs Kperai Daniel and Kanyitor Chiangi.
“The two criminals are known to have specialised in kidnapping locals for ransom. They are currently undergoing investigation after which they would be handed over to relevant authorities for prosecution.
“In another development, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke while on routine patrol along Makurdi-Lafia road foiled an armed robbery incident and rescued one Mr Samuel Ishaya who was attacked by the robbers on December 2, 2022 at about 8pm.”

He added that in a related development, troops of OPWS rescued two kidnap victims from their abductors.
He said, “The victims, Gunda Hemenga and Sunday Saatyo, were abducted and taken to the bush on Saturday, December 3, 2022, along Rafin Kada-Kado road in Bom village in Wukari LGA of Taraba State.
“Troops trailed the kidnappers’ route with hot pursuit, forcing the kidnappers to abandon their victims. The two victims have since been reunited with their families.”
