The Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has for the first time spoken on the rumour making the round that he would soon defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fielding questions from newsmen at a PDP stakeholders meeting on Thursday, he asked, “When is it going to happen?
“You said it is a rumour, so wait and see,” he further said.
Dan’iya, who is the senatorial candidate of the PDP for Sokoto North senatorial zone, was said to have been saddened by the decision of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and other PDP leaders in the state to pick the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, Sa’idu Umar Ubandoma, for the governorship ticket of the party in the state.

He, however, called on the people of the state to vote for the PDP in the forthcoming general elections.
Also speaking, the running mate of the governorship candidate, Sagir Bafarawa, noted that the meeting was aimed at ironing out contentious issues among the party members.
“We invited the stakeholders to interact with them to know their shortcomings, and we have started addressing some of them,” he said.
Bafarawa described PDP chances in the state as bright.
