Ganduje approves 50 % increase in scholarship for tertiary students

Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has announced a 50 per cent increase in the scholarship for 4,000 tertiary institution students in the state.

Ganduje, who made the announcement on Wednesday in Gaya town in an event preceding the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign in the state, directed the immediate disbursement of N100 million to the 4,000 students from Gaya Emirate Council.

The governor, who emphasised that government placed utmost priority on quality education, challenged the beneficiaries to pursue their chosen careers in various fields.

Although Ganduje pointed out that Kano is proud of its population size, he however reminded that a population could amount to a liability if not well educated.

Meanwhile, the governor has signed 11 bills recently passed by the state assembly into law.

The bills include Kano State Pension and Gratuity (Amendment No 3 Law 2022), Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital Law, 2022; Kano State Amendment Bill For Persons With Disabilities, Kano State Environmental Pollution Control Bill, 2022; Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST) (Amendment NO. 2) Law 2022 (1444 A.H.); and Kano Metropolitan Area Transport Authority Bill 2022 (KAMATA).
