NNPP plans dragging INEC to appeal court over Uba Sani, 34 other APC candidates

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has disclosed plans to drag the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to the Court of Appeal for listing Senator Uba Sani as governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kaduna State and 34 other candidates for state constituencies.

This followed the judgement of a Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna which ruled that the case filed by INEC was status bar and dismissed the suit.

The governorship candidate of the NNPP, Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, in company of the party’s Secretary Yahaya Shenko, told newsmen yesterday that the party would challenge the ruling at the appeal court.

He alleged that the APC as a party did not conduct valid ward congresses that produced delegates that participated in the purported primaries which produced the governorship and other candidates.

He noted that the candidates should not have been listed as candidates for the 2023 general elections.

Hunkuyi clarified that the party did not drag APC or its candidates to court but INEC for listing the candidates produced from “faulty” ward congresses and primaries.
