The Civil Society in Malaria Immunisation and Nutrition (ACOMIN) has insisted that only community-led monitoring of the implementation of national malaria programmes can guarantee the elimination of the disease in Nigeria.
The group, therefore, called on both the federal and the Ogun State governments to adopt community-led monitoring approaches for the execution of malaria programmes.

The Ogun State Coordinator of ACOMIN, Mrs Olufunmilayo Olatunji, made the call at an advocacy meeting of stakeholders in the health sector in Abeokuta.
Olatunji said the adoption of community-led monitoring of the implementation of malaria programmes became imperative following the various challenges militating against the prevention and elimination of the disease in Nigeria.
She raised alarm that Nigeria might not attain full elimination of malaria by 2030 if the government continued to ignore the people while formulating policies on its eradication.
Olatunji noted that the government must actively involve members of the community, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), religious organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), among others, to ensure accountability and sustainability of malaria programmes.
