The Budgit Foundation has introduced a software application to enhance citizens’ participation in governance at the subnational level.
The software known as “Tracka Mobile 2.0” is to provide simplified data on federal government allocations to the three tiers of government and ongoing public projects across the 36 states of the federation and FCT.

The software launched in Abuja, is the first BudgIT app in 10 years, developed under the Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement (SCALE project) with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Speaking during the virtual launch, the Country Director of BudgIT Foundation, Mr Gabriel Okeowo, said citizens’ participation in governance and Public finance was crucial at ensuring fiscal transparency and efficient service delivery.
Okeowo said the app would strengthen the advocacy capacity of the citizens and pressure groups to effectively engage public institutions.
Project manager of the organization, Mr Henry Omokhaye, said considering the challenges of service delivery in Nigeria, it was imperative to develop an app that would ensure that funds allocated for a project nominated by elected officials were judiciously utilized for the good of the people.
Omokhaye equally said the Tracka Mobil 2.0 would help the government to ascertain the immediate needs of Nigerians and how to satisfy them.
