Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has received the National Sports Festival (NSF) Torch of Unity, in Ado-Ekiti, promising the determination of his administration to attract development to the sports sector.
Oyebanji, who was represented by the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akin Oyebode, at the Oluyemi kayoed Stadium, in Ado-Ekiti, assured that the sport sector would enjoy remarkable improvement in infrastructure and human capital development.
Governor Oyebanji also said efforts have reached top gear to start work on the indoor sports hall at the stadium.
He promised that coaches and athletes in any performing sports will enjoy government’s funding.
The Zonal representative of the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mr. Seun Olowe, while presenting the Torch of Unity, acknowledged the impressive conduct and performance of Ekiti State athletes at every national and international sporting event.
He expressed confidence that the state will improve on its usual impressive performance at the 2022 NSF in Delta State.
On his part, the General Manager, Ekiti State Sports Council, Mr. Kunle Adeyemi, while appreciating the Governor said Ekiti athletes were eager to make the state proud at the forthcoming 2022 NSF.
Adeyemi reiterated that the sportsmen and women in the state will always give their best at all levels.
The Torch of Unity was accompanied to the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium by Ekiti State athletes before it was handed over to the NSF representative for presentation to the G.M of the Sports Council, Mr. Kunle Adeyemi, who handed it over to the representative of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
