Era of funds mismanagement in NDDC over – Niger Delta Ministry

The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs says the era of fund mismanagement and overbloated contracts has ended in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

This was contained in a press release signed by the Director, Corporate Affairs of the NDDC, Ibitoye Abosede.

According to Abosede, the supervising Minister, Mr Umana Okon Umana, has succeeded in installing transparency and accountability in the Commission.

He said to usher in a new era of transparency and accountability, the Minister has published a list of completed projects of the Niger Delta Development Commission, within the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, for public scrutiny.

“The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has released a list proving that it has completed at least 2506 projects in the nine states of the Niger Delta within the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari from 2015 till 2022.”

“This is part of the new transparent and accountable leadership initiated by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Umana Okon Umana.

“The lists showed projects, their costs, contractors, benefitting communities, institutions and dates they were awarded to the firms.

“Some of the projects undertaken by the Commission were roads, shore protection, solar water, buildings, desilting, electricity, canalisation among others.

“While road projects dominated the list, hundreds of communities were listed as beneficiaries of the projects,” the statement read.

He therefore, urged members of the public to always visit the commission’s website, to keep abreast of the agency’s projects across the Niger Delta region.
