The Gombe State government has won the World Bank’s States Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) award in four key categories.
A statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, spokesman to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, said the state received awards of excellent performance on fiscal transparency and accountability, very good performances on efficiency of public expenditure domestic revenue mobilization and on overall SFTAS disbursement linked indicators.

The statement said the awards were as a result of the impact of the state’s fiscal transparency and accountability in public resource management.
Misilli explained that SFTAS was a programme that encouraged and motivated states in Nigeria to improve their public financial management systems, processes and institution.
He explained that it was aimed at strengthening fiscal transparency to help build trust in government, facilitate accountability in public resource management and ensure sustainability in the participating states.
The statement added that the award was offered to Gombe State at a recognition dinner held in Abuja, to celebrate the achievements of SFTAS since its inception in 2018.
It added that the state also ranked fifth among the 36 states in the overall rankings for SFTAS.
Misilli added that the awards were received on behalf of the state government by the state’s Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Muhammad Gambo Magaji.
