A Makurdi magistrates’ court in Benue State on Monday remanded two men, Denongu Buruku and Mvendaga Pav, in a correctional centre over armed robbery and culpable homicide.
The prosecutor, Sgt Regina Ishaya, told the court that the police received a petition from one Capt M. J. Ekpo on behalf of the military police at the Joe Akaahan Barracks, Makurdi, dated October 14, 2022, that personnel of the unit staff, Sgt Jirgba Moses attached to the 72 Special Forces Operation Mesa stationed at Zaki-Biam, Ukum LGA, while on patrol around Gbaka-Wali village was attacked and killed by armed men.

She said following police investigation, Buruku and Pav were arrested, hence their being charged with conspiracy, robbery, terrorism and culpable homicide.
The Magistrate, Sonia Yaikyur, did not take the plea of Buruku and Pav for want in jurisdiction. She ordered their remand pending further investigation and adjourned to January 26.
