A former president of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Dr Martin Uhomoibhi, has said the solutions to the various problems and challenges facing Nigeria lie in the hands of Nigerians because they created them themselves.
He made the remark while speaking as a guest speaker at the First Annual Convention of the Old Seminarians Association of Nigeria (OSAN) in Abuja.
He said the destiny of Nigeria is not in the hands of anybody but in the hands of God and Nigerians hence, the need to get things right and that everybody must contribute their quota to address the challenges facing the country.
“If Mandela did not come out to do what he did, where would South Africa be today? But he was in jail for 27 years. So, lamentation and wailing are not a solution to our problem,” he said.
He advised Nigerians particularly the youths to resist the temptation of leaving the country risking their lives in search of greener pastures in Europe and elsewhere.
On his part, the President of OSAN, Chinedu Akabueze, who is also the Clerk of the Senate, said fraternal love and brotherhood has been lacking in the larger Nigerian society.
