The lady who jumped into the Lagos Lagoon Thursday afternoon has been identified as Adetutu Adedokun, a staff member of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Adedokun had jumped into the lagoon following a heated argument with her boyfriend, who was said to have recently proposed to her and they were about getting married.

According to the Uber driver, Adedokun had an argument with her boyfriend and in the heat of the altercation, she ordered him to stop and disembarked from the cab.
She then headed towards the railings of the bridge and jumped into the lagoon.
The State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) had confirmed the incident in an update by the Agency’s Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.
Oke-Osanyintolu said, “Upon arrival of the LRT at the incident scene, investigation revealed that a lady in her late thirties (30s) plunged into the Lagos lagoon
“Further investigation revealed that the lady alighted from a Uber taxi car on the bridge and plunged into the lagoon.
“The driver of the taxi claimed she was having a heated conversation with her fiance before alighting from the car.
The LRT, Men of Lagos State fire and rescue service, LASWA and officials of the Department of State Service (DSS) are currently on ground working better together to search for the victim.”
Spokesman of the Lagos police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the report and said her body has not been found as of this afternoon.
