In a bid to change the narrative of the governance in the FCT, natives and residents of the territory have launched a platform tagged: “Mandate FCT 23”, to advance the course of the people and ensure that they benefit from democratic dividends.
Convener of the movement, Danjuma Tanko Dara, who disclosed this at a press conference, said time had come for the FCT natives and residents to take their destiny into their hands and ensure that their prolonged marginalisation came to an end.

He explained that the reason for the movement was to change the narrative of governance in the territory and ensure that the people started benefiting from democratic dividends.
He said, “We formed this platform for the advancement of residents of the FCT to unite the residents and indigenous people and for all of us to come together and ensure that democratic structures are put in place in Abuja.
He said that Mandate FCT 23 would push for democratically elected leaders to govern the FCT, lamenting that unlike other Nigerian citizens in various states who had the right to vote for governors and members of Houses of Assembly, the FCT’s original inhabitants did not have such a right.
