Wife of former Military Administrator of Bauchi and Osun state, Mrs Jumoke Bamigboye, on Monday night regained her freedom from Kidnappers who abducted her on Saturday in Oko Olowo area of Ilorin South local government area of Kwara state.
Mrs Bamigboye, a Magistrate in Kwara state and member of the Rotary Club International, was reportedly kidnapped on her way from the farm on Saturday.
Her husband, Col. Theophilus Bamigboye (retd), had confirmed the development before her release.
According to the ex military administrator, “She was returning from the farm on Saturday evening when gunmen waylaid and forced her out of the Car. They took her away to an unknown destination. They later got in contact and demanded for ransom to be paid before her release”, he said.
However, while confirming her release on Tuesday, Bamigboye said it was after the payment of an undisclosed amount of ransom.
“She was set free and released last night, we thank God for her safety but not without payment of ransom.”
He added that the victim had been taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Impeccable sources who confided in our correspondents said the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N100m which later negotiated to N50m on Monday night.
Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), SP Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the release said three suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident.
He was however silent on the payment of ransom.
“Yes, she has been released and 3 suspects were arrested. Effort to get the remaining suspects is underway please”, he added.
