The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council on Monday asked the leadership of farmers’ cooperatives and associations to convince their members to vote for the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
The council headed by the Plateau State governor, Simon Lalong said it expected no fewer than 25 million votes from farmers as the stakeholders in deciding the winner in the presidential election in Nigeria.
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Tinubu, while addressing the representatives of Agro-Commodity Groups at a town hall meeting held in Minna on Monday, assured of the full revival of the agricultural sector if elected as the president in 2023 to boost local food production.

The meeting held at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, Minna, the Niger State capital was attended by the Agro-Commodity Groups from the 19 Northern states.
He promised to establish a National Agricultural Commodity Directorate, saying that it would help reposition the agricultural sector for optimal growth.
The APC presidential candidate also promised that his administration would commence commodity exchange on the assumption of office and would also ensure the full protection of farmers and their produce.
He said the Bank of Agriculture would be restructured to enable farmers easy access to loans while animal husbandry would also be enhanced to ensure food sufficiency.
Tinubu used the occasion to appoint the Kebbi State governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu as the chairman of the committee that would fashion out a blueprint for the revival of the agricultural sector in the country.
Earlier, the Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council who urged heads of cooperatives and associations of farmers to mobilise their members to vote for APC said Tinubu had a plan to develop the agricultural sector from subsistence to commercial to achieve food sufficiency in the country.
Also speaking, the Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Abubakar Bagudu emphasised the need to invest in all sectors of agriculture to create jobs and improve the living conditions of farmers.
The Niger State governor, Abubakar Sani Bello said his government had invested in agriculture and its value chain to enhance food production.
