A one-count charge prepared by the Kano Zonal Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) indicated that the victim was not a citizen or permanent resident of either Niger Republic or Libya.

When the charge was read to the accused, she pleaded guilty and urged the court to temper justice with mercy.

The defense counsel, Barrister M. B. Isah, urged the court to give the convict a fine option.

Justice Maryam Sabo held that, “The convict is hereby sentenced to two years imprisonment in addition to paying a compulsory fine of N250,000 or one year in default.”
