Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State yesterday presented a 2023 budget proposal of N173.69 billion to the state House of Assembly.

The budget is made up of N71.85 billion for recurrent expenditure, representing 41.4 per cent, while N101.84 billion was allocated for capital expenditure, representing 58.6 per cent of the total budgeted sum.
He said the state government plans to generate the sum of N100.61 billion as recurrent revenue, and the sum of N74.70 billion as capital receipts in the year 2023.
Similarly, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Thursday presented a proposal of N310billion for the 2023 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly.
He said the sum of N85.7 billion was earmarked for infrastructural development in the state.
The proposal christened “Budget of Sustainable Development”, according to the governor, is an indication of a movement from accelerated to sustainable development.
While the proposal put the capital expenditure at N154. 348billion, representing 49.79 per cent of the total budget proposal and the recurrent expenditure (50.21 per cent) stands at N155.651billion.
In the same vein, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State presented an Appropriation Bill of N113. 6 billion for the 2023 fiscal year to the Ekiti State House of Assembly.
The Appropriation bill, christened “Budget of Strong Beginning’’, has N80.36billion for Capital Expenditure and N34.06billion for Recurrent Expenditure.
Governor Oyebanji explained that capital expenditure constituted 70 per cent of the budget while 30 per cent represents the recurrent expenditure.
Oyebanji, said his government is irrevocably committed to openness, transparency and accountability to ensure fiscal discipline in the conduct of his administration as the governor of Ekiti State.
