The Enugu State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 general elections, Peter Mbah, says he will move the state’s economy from $4.4bn to $30bn through technology and innovation.

He said this at Ugbonabor where stakeholders, including supporters of Senator Ike Ekweremadu and Greater Awgu people, comprising Aninri, Oji River and Awgu Local Government Areas of the state, endorsed his candidacy.

Mbah also promised to eradicate poverty and achieve zero hunger through food security by making the state the food basket of Nigeria.

“Enugu State is going to be a net exporter of different products. We’ll grow agriculture to $10bn in the next four years. We’re going to use technology to drive our economy. Our government is going to be about the people,” he said.

Mbah, who commended Ekeremadu for his integrity and for honouring his promise, said: “Today, we have the best of our very best in terms of community mobilisation here with us. This shows the state of our party in Enugu West is intact. Enugu West has people that understand the value of trust and loyalty.”

In his vote of thanks, the chairman of Awgu LGA, Pedro Okwudiri, told Mbah “We’re going to queue behind you and support your candidacy in Enugu West senatorial zone.”

Member representing Oji River/Awgu/Aninri Federal Constituency, Toby Okechukwu, said they endorsed Mbah because of his action plan for the state as well as his wealth of experience in the public and private sectors.
