Addressing journalists in Benin shortly after the state weekly Executive Council meeting, the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nekhihare, said the governor has ordered that an autopsy be carried out to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the discovery and death of the 10 persons.

He said, “The state is pained with the discovery of 10 bodies of young men between the ages of 23 and 24 years who were found dead without any mark of identity and sign of trauma.

“The state government has ordered for an autopsy to be carried out to find out the cause of their death.”

Nehikhare also disclosed that the Afemai World Congress, a socio-cultural organisation, donated N12 million to aid the state’s security.

He said the government in appreciation of the gesture added N36 million, bringing the total amount to N48 million for the purchase of security gadgets and vehicles to aid movements and ensure proper security in the state.

He called on other well-meaning individuals and organisations to emulate the Afemai group and contribute their quota toward policing their areas.
