NEDC donates relief items to flood victims in Gombe

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) said it has donated food and non-food items to the Gombe State government for distribution to victims of flood disasters in the state.

 The Managing Director of the NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, disclosed this yesterday when he paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau.

 He said the items donated to the state government for onward distribution to the flood victims include 10,000 bags of rice, 5000 blankets, 5000 mats, 3000 gallons of vegetable oil, 5000 bundles of wrappers as well as 3000 ‘Shadda’ material and 3000 children’s wear.

 According to him, the commission made the donation following a pledge it made during the World Humanitarian Day celebration to assist the states in the sub-region in providing palliatives to victims of flood disaster.

Receiving the items, Dr Jatau thanked the commission for the donation and assured that the items will be delivered judiciously to those it was meant for.
