Vigilantes have foiled the kidnapping of residents of Bari Bari community, Gurdi Ward of Abaji Area Council of the FCT.
A vigilante, Dantani, said the incident happened around 11pm on Saturday when bandits attempted to invade the village.
He said the vigilantes were alerted after the bandits raided a shop in neighbouring Kutara village and were heading to Bari Bari community in an attempt to abduct residents.
He explained that, “It was one of our members at Kutara village that alerted us that bandits were heading to Bari Bari after stealing foodstuffs in Kutara village. We then mobilised and started shooting into the air which scarred them from entering the village.”
The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, DSP Adeh Josephine, was yet to reply to an SMS on the incident.
