A former Nigerian international, Mohammed Oladimeji Lawal, has said Taiwo Awoniyi’s goal against Liverpool on Saturday brought undiluted joy to fans of Nottingham Forest but ‘destroyed many tickets’.
The General Manager NPFL side, 3SC FC Ibadan was no doubt referring to those who had bet on the EPL match between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool.

The Super Eagles burly striker who left Liverpool in 2021 without making a competitive appearance for the club punished them when he hit the winner from close range in the 55th minute to light up the stadium.
His initial attempt had come back off a post but the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner for Nigeria maintained his composure to wreck the Reds.
One of his fans, Adewale Ajayi, while celebrating with him, made a post on Facebook that the player once promised to pay Liverpool in their own coin.
“Egbon Wale, remember I promised that I will pay Liverpool back in their own coin. Thanks for the support. I will not let you down.”
In his reaction to the post, Dimeji Lawal, a member of the ‘Dammam Miracle’ 1989 squad wrote “While we applaud your performance today and wish you many more goals in the premiership, the unfortunate thing is that you destroyed so many tickets by that goal today. Endless cries everywhere.”
Awoniyi’s goal against Liverpool was his second in nine matches in the EPL. His other goal came in the 1-0 win against West Ham United on August 14, 2022.
