The Director General National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NAPTIP), Dr Fatima Waziri-Azi, said the agency arrested 61 human traffickers in Edo, Delta and Bayelsa states in the last 10 months.
She also disclosed that the agency secured the conviction of six traffickers and rescued 87 victims during the period under review.

She said this at Idogbo, Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state during sensitization and community dialogue on human trafficking organised in collaboration with the Oba of Benin Task Force against human trafficking.
Waziri-Azi, who was represented by the NAPTIP Commander, Benin Zonal Office, Bar Nduka Nwanwenne, said the agency also recorded 145 cases of human trafficking across the three states under the zone within the period.
She said the sensitization, which is targeted at endemic communities in the state, was to equip community members and build their capacity to be able to fight human trafficking.
