Gombe governor’s wife offers scholarships to underprivileged girls

The First Lady of Gombe State, Hajiya Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, has offered scholarships to 15 underprivileged girls to study at the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Bajoga in Funakaye Local Government Area of the state.

A statement by her Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bintu Aliyu Sunmonu, said the scholarship was granted through her pet project, the Jewel Care Foundation, in partnership with Lafarge-AshakaCem Company’s Save-the-Girl-Child Education Scheme.

Asma’u Yahaya described the programme as a milestone and step up in the right direction, adding that her foundation focuses on educating the girl-child, “because she stands as a solid foundation and a bridge builder for a smooth and sustainable future of the family.”
