Several traders who had opened up for business before the incident quickly closed shops for fear of being caught up in the crossfire.

Eyewitness accounts had it that scores of hoodlums had attempted to overrun the market union taskforce on Tuesday, but their moves were fiercely resisted.

The entire market area starting from Ojo Local Government secretariat was completely deserted when our correspondent visited yesterday.

However, a combined team of policemen from the state anti-crime unit, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and soldiers from Ojo have been drafted to the area.

When contacted, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the crisis was between some traders and motor park touts.
