City & Crime observed that a police officer, ASP Ahmed Yusuf, was kidnapped in the same area last week.
Speaking on the issue, a block industry owner in the area, Alhaji Issa Oregele, said, “The suspect, Ibrahim Abubakar, came to me last week begging for alms and I gave him some money. When I saw him this morning, I gave him N1,000, but he said that was not what he came for.
“He said four of them came to kidnap me and slept at my block industry very close to my house, but that he had to plead with them because of my previous kindness to him. So that I should give them N200,000 which was given to them for the operation for them to refund to the people that gave them the job. That was how I raised an alarm and he was arrested.”
But the suspect insisted he was out to save the block industry owner while writing his statement at the ‘G’ Police Division Police, Oloje, when our reporter visited.
