Two suspected kidnappers were killed during an exchange of gunfire by Police operatives at Maina-Maji village, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The Police equally arrested a 20-year-old kidnapper, Abubakar Isah, who was in possession of N8.4m suspected to be ransom money generated from victims. They also recovered an SMG rifle with 92 live ammunition, one empty magazine SMG OFN rifle, one 7.62mm calibre of live ammunition and eight different models of phones.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mamman Sanda, who paraded the suspects and other criminals Tuesday in Bauchi, said, “Security concerns in our society have assumed alarming dimensions ranging from gender-based violence, thuggery, armed robbery, kidnapping, and banditry, among others. This necessitates a review of our modus operandi to contain the current security challenges bedevilling our dear state.
“On 07/09/2022, a patrol team attached to Maina-Maji Divisional Police Headquarters, in collaboration with a vigilante group, acted on credible intelligence and raided a suspected kidnappers’ den. On arrival, the kidnappers opened fire on the Police operatives. While returning fire, two of the kidnappers were neutralized at the spot.”
CP Sanda further disclosed that on August 23, a team of detectives attached to the Command arrested suspects involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry and cattle rustling, who were terrorizing Alkaleri, Dass, Tafawa Balewa, Bogoro and Toro LGAs and some parts of Plateau State.
He said, “In the same vein, our operatives arrested six suspects and members of a vigilantes group at Sabon-Gida village, Tafawa Balewa LGA, Bauchi, and Guram Wase LGA, Plateau State; namely;
Adamu Aliyu (alias Do something), Adamu Abdullahi, Longnan Bali (alias Guguwa), Hassan Muhammed, Yakubu Muhammadu and Umar Abdullahi.”
The police commissioner noted that the suspects, alleged to have criminally conspired with others while armed with AK-47rifles, pistols and other dangerous weapons, carried-out series of kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry and cattle rustling along Alkaleri, Dass, Tafawa Balewa, Bagoro, and Toro LGAs Bauchi State, and extended their criminal activities to the neighbouring towns, which include Wase, Dengi Kanam, Langtang north, Kanke and Mangu LGA, Plateau State, respectively.
He added that exhibits recovered from the suspects include one AK-47 rifle with 30 rounds of live ammunition, two Barretta Pistol with 58l rounds of live ammunition
