Army Chief Affirms Commitment To Soldiers’ Welfare

The Chief of Army Staff , Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya, has affirmed his commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of personnel across the country.

Yahaya gave the assurance while commissioning projects executed at 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Monday.

The projects commissioned by the COAS, include 20 refurbished operational vehicles, Phython House, Corporal Below Quarters and other units of houses built and reconstructed under the supervision of the GOC 6 Division, Maj. Gen. O.O Oloyede.

“I am in Six Division area of responsibility for operations visit before the commencement of the Exercise Still Waters, to commission accommodation projects for our soldiers.

“Accommodation is part of administration and administration is a part of the pillar of my leadership and i take the welfare of my soldiers very seriously, just like the present Commander in Chief has taken seriously in providing the resources for it.

“We have commissioned accomodations for our soldiers that were in bad shape. Many of the accommodations were newly constructed by the GOC 6 division.

“They are now very befitting accommodation for our soldiers. This we hope will now improve their wellbeing and enhance their productivity and commitment.

“We have also commissioned some vehicles about 20 of them in all, that will also be deployed immediately in our operations. We also hope that will now improve our operations and our activities in this area of responsibility,” he said.
