Oba of Benin distributes foodstuffs to orphanages

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II,  has commenced the distribution of foodstuffs to orphanages and vulnerable people in Edo State, ahead of his 6th coronation anniversary.

Speaking during the distribution, on behalf of the monarch, the Secretary, Oba Ewuare Foundation, Prince Enoma Eweka, said the gesture is in line with the traditional norm that a society is happy and prosperous when the happiness of the greatest number of citizens in it is achieved.

Prince Eweka said the monarch’s fellowship with orphans and other Nigerians living below the breadline in society would be sustained.

He listed the beneficiaries to include, Aid Peoples Change, Uyiosa and Iwinosa Orphanage and Uyiosa Orphanage and Widows’ Ministry in Benin.

The beneficiaries commended the monarch for the humanitarian support, especially at a time of rising food prices in the country.

Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries, the founder, Iwinosa Orphanage, Mrs. Veronica Egbon, said the blessings that follow the children will follow His Royal Majesty, the Oba of Benin.”

Daily Trust reports that the items distributed to the orphanage homes were bags of rice, garri, grains and cartons of noodles.
