A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ilemona Onoja, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of appointing its members into the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The Senate president and presidential aspirant, Bukola Saraki, has appointed a lawyer, Ilemona Onoja, as the official spokesman for his 2019 election campaign.
Onoja, who was the spokesperson for the defunct Bukola Saraki Presidential Campaign Organisation, stated this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.
He said, “It is the APC that is appointing members into the electoral body. It’s the APC that has illegally and unconstitutionally removed a Chief Justice of Nigeria, even the military never did such thing. What I hear on television baffles me. Our country has never been this poor.
“Our people have never been this poor. Our people never lacked access to education and health care of this level. We have never been this insecure and unemployed. At the moment, states of our country have been submerged by water. There are statistics from global and approved sources that this is the worst government in our national history.”
Responding, an APC member, Ayo Ayalowo, said it was irresponsible to make such allegation.
He said, “It is irresponsible to make such allegation and whosoever is saying it is actually irresponsible. APC will not interfere with the electoral process. For the APC, it’s about doing what is right. The campaign council met today. The national working committee met today. They deliberated on how to do some serious issues on mobilizing voters.”
