The Kogi State Government on Wednesday started oral interviews for 3,100 successful candidates in the aptitude test conducted for the recruitment of secondary school teachers in the state.
Addressing the candidates at GYB Model Science Secondary School, Lokoja, the State’s Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Wemi Jones, congratulated them for making it to the oral- interview stage.

He thanked Governor Yahaya Bello for the recruitment which he said was thorough, transparent, participatory and all-encompassing.
”We need to fill 3,979 positions but about 17,485 applied.
“Out of them, 6,900 candidates were shortlisted for aptitude test and 3,100 passed having scored 40 per cent and above.
”So, it is the 3,100 candidates from across the 21 local government areas of the state that will be called for oral interview.
”Our plan is to interview not more than 500 candidates per day including Saturday, and it will last till next week Tuesday,” he said
Jones added that 1,579 teachers out of the 3,100 to be interviewed would be recruited in the first phase.
According to him, the candidates invited for Wednesday were those who applied for Animal Husbandry, Economics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Food and Nutrition and who scored 40 per cent and above in the aptitude test.
The commissioner said that the candidates would be interviewed based on work experience, appearance, communication skills and quality of responses to questions.
He urged those who scored 40 per cent and above and were yet to receive their interview messages not to worry.
He assured them that they would get theirs before October 18.
He advised the candidates to conduct themselves very well during the exercise.
”I wish you well and I pray that at the end of the day, we shall all laugh and congratulate ourselves,” Jones said. (NAN)
