More than 24 hours after a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and three other officers were killed by gunmen; police authorities in Imo are yet to speak on it.
The DSP and an Inspector attached to the Umuna Divisional Police Headquarters in the Onuimo council area of the state were reportedly gunned down when they, along with other junior officers were on a stop and search in front of the Divisional police headquarters.

Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen, in military uniform and operating in a black Hilux Vehicle, immediately sped off after attacking the officers.
A source familiar with the story had said that the police officers had blocked the road on a stop and search in the morning.
But unknown to them, the black Hilux van with about five men in military uniforms were not actually soldiers, but bandits, who opened fire on the unsuspecting police officers and in the process killed the DSP and the Inspector and sped off before the other officers who had taken to their heels could react.
However, up to the time of writing this report the Imo State Police Command had not issued any statement on the incident even as the Public Relations Officer, CSP Mike Abattam did not respond to calls when contacted.
