It was learnt that luck ran against the suspects when one of the victims’ grandmother got wind of the movement and informed a human rights advocacy group and that the group reported to the police.

Consequently, Tayo, who claimed to be a mechanic, was arrested and during interrogation he said they only introduced the girls to agents.

It was learnt that Tayo later led detectives to Ikotun, Lagos, where Kunle was arrested.

Mr Titus Obey of the human rights advocacy group which reported the matter, urged the police not to treat the issue with kid gloves so that other victims could be rescued.

Lagos police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, but said that only a 17-year-old girl was trafficked and that she had been returned to the country.

He explained that, “The lady who returned the girl is out of the country. The girl has been handed over to her mother.”
