The Vice Chancellor of Salem University Lokoja, Kogi State, Prof Alewo Johnson-Akubo, has decried the collapse of the quality of education in the country.
Speaking at an event to mark the nation’s 62nd anniversary yesterday, he said the quality of education in Nigeria today is in a coma and needed urgent attention.
The VC in an interview lamented the underfunding of the education sector which he said has affected the quality of education at primary, secondary and tertiary institutions.
Professor Akubo while decrying the degeneration in infrastructure in tertiary institutions, advocated massive investment in research at the university level, stressing that it is one of the three legs on which the university education stands.
