In a bid to hasten intervention and reduce HIV prevalence in the country, the Nigeria Business Coalition against AIDS (NiBUCAA) have inaugurated new Co-chairs that would help pave way for assistance and grants to organizations engaged in activities connected with the furtherance of rehabilitating people with HIV and AIDS related cases in Nigeria.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Thursday in Lagos in the presence of political leaders, advocates, health workers, top notch business men and woman as well as intellects from the Civil Society Organisations.
The idea behind the inauguration as well as the committee structure is basically to stand in gap for the voiceless as far as HIV/AIDs is concerned as well as build formidable team that would inspire further advocacy intervention, thereby, bringing the effect of the menace to nothing in the society.
The newly inaugurated co-chairs of NiBUCAA were; the Current CEO and Group Managing Director of Access Bank, Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe and Managing Director and Chief Executive of Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria, Mr. Nicolas Terraz.
The process of inauguration was solely organized by NiBUCAA and sponsored by Access Bank. NiBUCAA represents the voice of the Nigerian private sector response to HIV and AIDS on the premise that businesses have collective leadership role to play in the wide multi-sectoral response to the pandemic and other related ailments.
The outgoing co-chair of NiBUCCA, Dr. Pascal Dozie appreciated the new team for taking up the responsible to stand in gap for the course.
In a fun-laden atmosphere, Dr. Pascal gave a brief on how the organisation started and explained that through times it had made relevant impact and recorded success as far as advocacy against HIV/AIDs is concerned.
Reacting to the inauguration, Wigwe, assured that he would ensure that all that is expected of him is also prioritised.
