There was a mild drama as a 45-year-old man, Wahab Affez, who was arrested for allegedly stealing a mobile phone valued at N120,000 in a police station in Lagos, was on Friday arraigned before an Ogba Chief Magistrate’s court for theft.
The police said the incident took place in September 2022, when the accused went to negotiate the bail of his friend allegedly being detained at Bolade Police station, Lagos.

The prosecutor said the accused gained entry into the office where the phone was lying on a table.
Though the accused denied having anything to do with the theft of the phone, the police still went ahead to arraign him on a two-count charge of stealing and unlawful entry into an office.
The discovery of the theft of the phone, according to the prosecutor, Rachael Williams, threw officers on duty into instant confusion, prompting the Divisional Police Officer to order for immediate investigation.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs. O. O. Akingbesote, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in the same sum.
The case was adjourned for a mention, while the accused was remanded in a custodial centre, in Kirikiri town.
